Applied Mechanics and Mechanics — STU in Bratislava
Applied Mechanics and Mechatronics focuses on advanced machines and equipment combining mechanical engineering, electronics and computer science. It uses computational mechanics, smart materials, sensor arrays, neural networks, automatic control methods and tools, local computer networks and database systems. Graduates can operate and maintain measurement, control, robotic and mechatronic systems, or design new products incorporating intelligence, such as automotive ABS, EDS, airbags and consumer appliance systems.

Graduates gain theoretical knowledge of solid mechanics, continuum mechanics, thermomechanics and hydraulics. Their chosen focus prepares them for varied theoretical and practical problems in mechanical engineering. They can analyse structural dynamics, synthesise and design mechanisms and robots, and also know:
Methods for optimising machine component dimensions and calculating machine service life and reliability;
Theoretical foundations of thermal calculations and mechatronics;
Methods and tools for engineering experiments and research used in applied mechanics.
Graduates can work successfully in engineering companies, the aviation and automotive industries, robotics, research institutes and engineering consultancy, among other fields.
