Data Science — Comenius University in Bratislava

Data Science is a key discipline in the 21st century, as data drives the digital economy. It equips students to work with large datasets and innovative technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and predictive analysis of user, customer or market behaviour. Data analysis is both an in-demand profession and an engaging pursuit of new knowledge and solutions.

Data analysis specialists are in high demand and indispensable in practice. There are no unemployed data analysis experts, and demand continues to rise. Data science experts earn more than programmers, with salaries growing faster. Data analysts also tend to be much more satisfied with their jobs than programmers.

Compulsory courses cover the main topics in computer science. Mathematics, the principal field of study, is supported by foundations of mathematics, discrete structures, laws of motion and change, laws describing non-deterministic phenomena and large-scale data processing.

Core subjects
  • Fundamentals of Probability and Statistics.
  • Data management.
  • Unconstrained Optimisation Methods.
  • Creating Efficient Algorithms.
  • Database systems.
  • Principles of Data Science.
  • Network science.
