Faculty of Civil Engineering
Bachelor’s programmes
- Geodesy and cartography
- Gain professional education in geodesy, cartography and real estate cadastre, focused on reference systems, collecting spatial data for national mapping and cadastral work, creating digital terrain models, setting out buildings and progressing to an engineering degree.
- Engineering and Transport Structures
- Gain professional education in the design and construction of engineering structures, required for professional practice or further engineering qualifications.
- Greening and Landscape Planning
- The programme focuses on comprehensive planning, design and development of optimal landscape structures for housing, production and leisure, strengthening ecological stability and creating a cultural and aesthetic environment using biotic and abiotic elements.
- Mathematical and Computer Modelling
- Applied Mathematics provides high-quality interdisciplinary education and broad knowledge of mathematics, informatics and engineering applications. Students learn numerical, statistical, optimisation, graphical and visualisation methods for solving complex engineering problems and developing scientific and technical calculation software. Graduates can join interdisciplinary teams developing new technologies through mathematical modelling and computer simulation.
- Civil Engineering and Architecture
- Obtaining professional education in the design and construction of engineering structures, required for professional practice or further engineering qualifications.
- Construction Technologies and Management
- The programme trains graduates in building and civil engineering construction technology, production of construction materials and components, construction process design, junior construction management (assistant construction manager), and design and planning of simple structures. It includes construction organisation, quality assurance, environmental protection and occupational health and safety on construction sites.
- Hydraulic Structures and Water Management
- Obtaining professional education in the design and operation of water-management structures and national water resources, required for professional practice or further engineering qualifications.
Master’s programmes
- Architectural Construction and Design
- Architectural Construction and Design builds on a 70-year tradition of civil engineering teaching. It follows a four-year bachelor’s programme in construction and architecture. Study focuses on conceptual and technical aspects of architecture in building design, planning and construction, and on low-energy ecological architecture with particular attention to structural detailing.
- Geodesy and cartography
- Obtaining professional education in geodesy and cartography, required for professional practice, the competence to verify selected work results, or progression to doctoral study.
- Mathematical and Computer Modelling
- Graduates gain a complete second-cycle university education in applied mathematics focused on mathematical modelling, computer analysis and simulation of interdisciplinary engineering problems. They master modern numerical, statistical, optimisation, graphical and visualisation methods and software, understand efficient implementation on modern parallel computer architectures, and can apply them in engineering. They mainly work in interdisciplinary teams at companies and research centres developing modern technologies, scientific and technical calculation software, numerical and statistical methods, visualisation, computer graphics, image processing and data analysis.
- Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning
- The programme trains graduates in landscape architecture and planning. Its central focus is managing and protecting river basins from harmful human activity. Much of the work is studio-based, designing ecological corridors, leisure areas and river-basin revitalisation measures. Technical solutions draw on engineering support ranging from hydraulic software and design visualisation to information systems and GIS. University research makes broader use of the Faculty of Architecture’s landscape planning expertise.
- Construction and Architecture
- Obtaining professional education in the design, construction and management of the construction and operation of building structures, required for professional practice or a doctoral degree.
- Load-Bearing Building Structures
- Graduates can work independently or as team managers in the design, construction or renovation of load-bearing building structures, in central or local government, investment departments, design, marketing, education, regional development, management and business.
- Construction technology
- The programme trains civil engineers with advanced qualifications in construction technology preparation and the delivery of buildings and engineering structures. It provides a basis for professional qualifications as construction managers and supervisors. Graduates can perform senior roles in preparing, constructing, reconstructing, renovating and using all types of buildings and complexes: chief construction manager, chief construction inspector, chief engineer for construction technology projects, chief construction plant engineer, construction company quality manager, state building supervision and inspection officer, occupational health and safety manager, construction environmental engineer, expert, secondary and higher vocational teacher, entrepreneur in construction preparation and delivery or building materials and components production and sales, and testing, construction product conformity certification and quality assessment manager.
- Building Services Equipment
- Obtaining professional education in the design and operation of building services equipment, required for professional practice or a doctoral degree.
- Hydraulic Structures and Water Management
- Water Structures and Water Management trains civil engineers to design and operate hydraulic structures, manage national water resources and water systems, supply drinking water and develop sewerage systems in towns and municipalities. It emphasises theoretical approaches and the ability to solve complex water-management problems independently.
