Vienna Medical University (MUW)
Medizinische Universität Wien (MUW) is located in Alzergrund, the 9th district of Vienna, which, in turn, borders the so-called Inner City, that is, the historic center of the Austrian capital.
In the immediate vicinity of the university is Allgemeines Krankenhaus – one of the largest clinics not only in Vienna, but throughout Western Europe: in this clinic, which is a kind of city attraction, MUW students practice.
The Master’s programs offered by MUW are implemented in such areas as general medicine and dentistry. The training is designed for 12 semesters, 2 of which are devoted to the study of educational disciplines, 4-6 are assigned to the mastery of the specialty. In the final semesters, students hone the professional skills necessary for independent work as a practicing specialist, as well as writing a thesis.
Two-year master’s programs are offered by the University in Medical Informatics. Among the doctoral programs designed for 3 years of study, practical and scientific can be distinguished. The choice of topics for the preparation of the dissertation and the search for a scientific supervisor relies on the applicants themselves.
In addition to the main programs, MUW pays much attention to postgraduate education, in particular in such areas as recreational medicine, oncology, pharmacology.
