Renewable energy sources and environmental physics — Comenius University in Bratislava

Bachelor’s graduates can independently or collaboratively solve straightforward interdisciplinary physics problems, particularly in renewable energy and environmental physics, using knowledge of physics, mathematics, chemistry and computational physics. Graduates receive a comprehensive first-cycle higher education in physics.

Key knowledge, abilities and skills acquired by bachelor’s graduates:

  • The ability to create and use computer models of physical phenomena.
  • The ability to apply physical knowledge to common phenomena in everyday life and understand them correctly.
  • The ability to measure various physical quantities and statistically assess, process and interpret them.
  • The ability to design simple physical instruments needed to study physical phenomena.
  • The ability to build simple theoretical models describing the behaviour of living and non-living systems, ecological systems and their subsystems.
  • The ability to create computer simulation programmes to model and optimise physical, geophysical, biophysical, environmental and socio-economic phenomena.

Bioinformatics tools are essential for data processing and research in modern biology and medicine. The programme is particularly suited to students interested in mathematics and computer science alongside biology and medicine. It enables them to develop both interests and find meaningful connections between them.
