Employment

Nuclear and Physical Engineering graduates learn physical processes and methods for analysing and modifying materials, including their mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic and optical properties. They gain in-depth knowledge of processes in different materials, diagnostic methods and practical applications. A second branch focuses on nuclear energy, with detailed study of safe nuclear power plant design, operation and decommissioning. Modern ICT methods are integrated into study, within current economic, legislative, social and ethical contexts.

Graduate Career Opportunities
Graduates of the engineering programme in Nuclear and Physical Engineering have broad opportunities in electrical engineering, with particular expertise in nuclear facility operation and decommissioning and materials science. They can work as members or leaders of creative teams wherever knowledge of diagnostic methodologies for analysing materials and processes is needed. Public- and private-sector industrial and service roles include designer, design engineer, operations engineer and managers at different levels. Opportunities also include development and technology roles in advanced materials, electrical technologies, healthcare, the environment and nuclear energy.
