A programme of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Faculty of Civil Engineering.

Civil Engineering and Transport Buildings — STU in Bratislava

Graduates gain core knowledge in designing and constructing engineering and transport structures. The programme develops theoretical knowledge, design principles, and organisational and technological understanding while observing reliability principles. It emphasises adaptability to changing information and rapidly developing technologies. Students understand their profession’s social, moral, legal and economic contexts and work within professional, ethical and legal frameworks.

Core subjects
  • History of architecture and construction.
  • Descriptive geometry.
  • Surveying in Construction.
  • Geology.
  • Mathematics.
  • Building materials.
  • Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering.
Employment

After completing their studies, graduates will be able to:

  • apply the fundamentals of statics and construction;
  • learn about the main types of engineering structures;
  • solve design tasks independently and as part of a team;
  • work with software such as MathCad, Plaxis, MatLab, ANSYS, Revit and AutoCAD, and use advanced technologies (BIM, machine learning and virtual reality) to improve construction efficiency and reduce costs;
  • use modern laboratory and field equipment to diagnose building structures and measure the properties of construction materials;
  • analyse the interaction between engineering structures and the natural environment.

Their solid knowledge enables graduates to apply their skills successfully in construction, working as structural statics and dynamics designers, construction managers or project managers. They can also work in government bodies, environmental protection authorities and organisations managing engineering and transport structures.
