Hi everyone, my name is Anton. I am 23, and I have been studying in Trenčín, Slovakia, for six months, at the technical university's Faculty of Special Technology. My story is quite simple: during my final year at university, it became clear that there were no further prospects in my field back home.
I heard about Avers entirely by chance. I went to their office, and after listening to what I wanted, they offered me various options. I made a difficult and, for me, somewhat crazy decision to go and study in Slovakia. I took a short Slovak course, and I would like to thank Avers again for arranging it. The course helped me overcome my fear of not understanding people and feeling out of place. Although I travelled alone, I managed to reach the university and settle into the dormitory without problems.
I will not describe the education system in detail: there is a lot to say, but I think it is better to experience and understand it from within. The first lectures were certainly difficult, and the feeling of “Where have I ended up?” stayed with me for more than a month! But do not worry that you will be left to fend for yourself. The university has an international student office that can help you with all kinds of problems and difficulties when necessary.
Overall, I am very grateful to everyone who helped me make this choice, and to Avers for making it possible. I am continuing my studies, working and travelling around Europe—things I had not even dreamed of just six months ago!
