Bulygina Jana, Matej Bel University, Slovakia

Good afternoon.
For a year now I have studied in Slovakia, at Matej Bel University (Banská Bystrica). The road was difficult, a lot of transfers, the first experience of going to Slovakia. Thanks to the friends who met us and helped with transfers. The first impression was “not very good”. We got to the city, where 3-week courses of the Slovak language were held. We were met by representatives of the language school and they took us to the hostel.
The hostel in which we were accommodated was a hotel type, 2 people lived in a room, a cleaning lady comes every day. My mother came with me for the first couple of days, she too could be left to live in a hostel, rooms for relatives are provided for this.

Only after sorting things out, we went to explore the city – Banska Bystrica. First impression – huraaaaaaay – EUROPE:) a beautiful area, everything is clean, cultural.
Everyone liked the city very much. However, one drawback is that there is only one shopping center in the city. The next day we went to the Tesco hypermarket for everything we needed, the school representative told us the way. So gradually we learned all the pros and cons.

3-week language courses flew unnoticed and we are already at the university. I entered the magistracy of the Faculty of Economics, specialty – Business Marketing Management. We were helped in the student department and buddy to deal with the system. Buddy is an activist student who is assigned to foreigners to control. The educational process has begun.
I’ll tell you about the studying system. All lectures are conducted in the presentation format. Each auditorium has a projector and a screen. They have no such thing as “reading”. You must master 80% of the material yourself, the rest is given by the teachers in a thesis form (presentation). The university has specially equipped computer rooms for study, a library and many opportunities for development.

My classmates are very “diverse” – Spanish, Slovaks, Belgians, Poles, Bulgarians and other nationalities. Teachers give assignments in groups, which is why it is fun, new friends, and develops work in a team. Having studied for a year, I do not regret a single drop of my decision. Thanks to the company “Avers Express LTD” for the proposed option on time, help and opportunities that I now have!
